| Gay rights support deepens schism within Episcopal Church (try 2) Leader of the Anglican church have told the U.S. Episcopal Church that blessing same-sex unions and anointing gay bishops must cease by September 30th. Episcopal leaders have responded to the demands of the Anglican leaders.
The Episcopal Church, with 2.4 million members, is one of the smallest branches of the Anglicanism. The Archbishop of Canterbury recently said, "The teaching of the Anglican Church remains that homosexual activity is not compatible with scripture."
Margaret Warner of PBS Newshour, interviews two leader of the Episcopal church with different viewpoints on support gay rights in the Episcopal Church. Canon Kendall Harmon, the chief theologian for the Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina believes that the toleration of differences must have boundaries and the scriptures say that gay rights are beyond a boundary that can be tolerated. | Terror spoof demands '49 virgins and lots of donuts' Five students have been fired from their Resident Assistant jobs for distributing a hostage demand video spoof. In the video, four of the five student can be seen in ski masks, making demands for the release of their toy duck hostage.
Some found the video to be culturally insensitive. College Provost Joeseph Shenker, says, "I think the tape was an insult to the victims and families involved in hostage situations,” Shenker said. The Provost thinks that student should be role models. “We expect them to be instructing our students on being sensitive regarding all groups.”
The students have filed a $2.5 million lawsuit against the college and 3 staff members. A judge issued a temporary restraining order on Friday, preventing the college from taking further disciplinary action against the students.
